Julien is a Meteorologist at Weatherlogics. He has had a lifelong passion for weather which began at a very young age. In 2017, he earned a Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Manitoba, specializing in atmospheric science. During his time at the university, he had the opportunity to work at Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather office in Winnipeg for three summers. During his time at the weather office he collected severe weather reports, produced climate statistics, and participated in the Canadian Arctic Weather Science research project. Julien's CAWS research into stratified wind layers at Iqaluit has since been published in Geophysical Research Letters.
In his spare time, Julien enjoys analyzing climate data and has become a go-to for climate statistics and records in the Prairies as a result. He also enjoying hiking, cycling, and storm spotting.
Climate is Julien’s favourite area of research. He often analyzes past climate information to aid with future weather predictions, such as finding correlations between weather variables and the occurrence of extreme weather events. Julien specializes in the following areas of research:
- Characterization and analysis of trends in climate variables.
- Boundary layer processes.
At Weatherlogics, Julien writes forecast discussions for our clients in various industries. He also produces hourly and medium-range forecasts of precipitation, temperatures and wind.
